So, this is why I love my students. Have you ever bled entirely too much from a scratch that is entirely too small? Today, I nicked myself somehow on the back of my arm and boy was it a gusher! Here I am teaching and writing on the board with my right hand and simultaneously holding my arm with my left hand to minimize the oozing. Out of the corner of my eye I see a girl get up and walk over to the tissues. I didn't pay much attention as this is a normal occurrence during allergy season but before I knew it she was standing in front of me presenting me with a bandaid -- all ready to go with the plastic strips peeled away! I have to admit, I was pretty surprised as usually it's me doing that for one of them. It really did make my day!
Teacher Tip #8 You shouldn't have to hurt yourself for your students to show you compassion, but if you wanted to try I guess scraping the back of the right arm is a winner!
